ATF Withdraws Ammo Ban Proposal after Pressure by Boozman and Senate Colleagues

Press Release

Date: March 11, 2015
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Guns

One day after U.S. Senator John Boozman and more than 50 senators sent a letter to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) director, condemning a proposal limiting access to rifle ammunition, the agency withdrew its plan.

"Thanks to thousands of Arkansans who voiced their concerns about ATF's proposal threatening our Second Amendment, the agency shelved its misguided framework. The agency responded to their direct pressure, as well as Congressional pressure we applied on their behalf, and hopefully realized this proposal would violate the rights of law-abiding gun owners across the nation. However, in the event ATF tries to pursue this again, I will continue to push back and prevent the erosion of our Second Amendment," Boozman said.
