U.S. Rep. Mark Pocan (WI-02), First Vice-Chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, today issued the following statement on the Congressional Progressive Caucus (CPC) FY 2016 The People's Budget:
"First and foremost The People's Budget reflects our progressive priorities -- leveling the economic playing field by increasing wages for middle- and low-income workers. With families struggling to make ends meet, it is clear the American people want Congress to help create good-paying jobs and expand economic opportunity for all.
"The People's Budget looks to begin this dialogue by providing a road map for creating more than 8 million good paying jobs by 2018, while pursuing measures to increase wages and workplace protections. Additionally, our budget looks to address the elephant in the room by dedicating more than $820 billion to much-needed infrastructure and transportation improvements.
"Ultimately our budget is a just a starting point. Now is the time for Congress to work together and develop a budget which works for every American, creates good-paying jobs and expands economic opportunity for all, not just the wealthy few."
