Congressional Tunisia Caucus Co-Chairs Schweikert and Hastings Release Statement Condemning Terrorist Attack in Tunisian Capitol City

Rep. David Schweikert (R-AZ), Co-chair of the Congressional Tunisian Caucus, released a statement Wednesday condemning the deadly terrorist attack carried out at the Bardo National Museum in Tunisia's capitol city of Tunis.

Congressman David Schweikert: "First and foremost, I believe I speak for all Americans when I express my deepest condolences to the friends and families of those who were injured, or lost their lives, in today's senseless violent attacks,"

"I strongly condemn this act of terrorism against both the people of Tunisia and its foreign visitors. Further, I strongly encourage all Tunisians to unequivocally stand together in opposition to extremism and violence of any kind. Despite challenges ahead I remain committed in my dedication to work with the Tunisian people to ensure a safe and democratic future for Tunisia."

Congressman Alcee L. Hastings: "I am deeply saddened by the museum attack that took place in Tunisia earlier today. My thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends who lost loved ones in this horrific event. This attack reminds us all that there are still people who choose hate and intolerance, over understanding and compassion. This was a heinous and cowardly act of violence and highlights the importance of the international community's continued cooperation to combat terrorism."
