Rep. Newhouse Statement on Resignation of Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Director

Statement

Date: March 20, 2015
Location: Washington, D.C.

Today, Rep. Dan Newhouse (R-WA) released the following statement after the announcement that Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) Director B. Todd Jones will step down at the end of the month:

"The recent backdoor attempt to restrict the Second Amendment by banning popular rifle ammunition was just one symptom of bureaucratic overreach at ATF under the Obama Administration. I hope that the Administration has finally heard the message of the American people that efforts to infringe on the constitutional right to bear arms are unacceptable."
