Today, Congresswoman Tammy Duckworth (IL-08) announced that the National Endowment of the Arts (NEA) has awarded a $10,000 grant to the Elgin Symphony Orchestra Association in Elgin, Illinois. This grant will support an artist residency by cellist Lynn Harrell. The residency will include public lectures, a master class for students in the community and performances with the Elgin Symphony Orchestra.
"I am proud that the Elgin Symphony Orchestra is receiving this grant," said Duckworth. "One of the strengths of our community is its tremendous talent in the arts. This NEA grant will help my neighbors learn and benefit from the artistic contributions of Lynn Harrell. The taxpayers of Illinois contribute more than their fair share to the federal government and I am pleased to see that resources are coming back to the 8th Congressional District."
