Congresswoman Duckworth Helps Introduce Bipartisan Legislation Recognizing the Importance of Vaccinations and Immunizations

Press Release

Date: Feb. 17, 2015

Today, Congresswoman Duckworth (IL-08) announced her co-sponsorship of the "Vaccines Save Lives" Resolution. This legislation, which was introduced by Representatives Adam Schiff (D-CA), Charles Dent (R-PA), Peter Welch (D-VT) and Tom Marino (R-PA), makes clear to the American people that Congress fully supports the use of vaccines and immunizations in the United States.

"Growing up overseas, and with my previous work at Rotary International, I saw firsthand the horrible health issues that stemmed from measles and many other diseases," said Duckworth. "I'm proud to co-sponsor the "Vaccines Save Lives' Resolution because we need to send a clear message to the American people that vaccinations and immunizations are crucial to both individual and public health in the United States."

This bipartisan legislation is endorsed by the American Medical Association (AMA), the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), the Children's Hospital Association (CHA), and the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP).
