Joyce Stands Up To President on Immigration

Statement

Date: Jan. 14, 2015
Location: Washington, DC

Today the House passed H.R. 240, the Department of Homeland Security Appropriations Act, which will fund DHS for the remainder of FY2015 while blocking the use of funds to implement President Obama's recent unlawful executive action on immigration. Congressman Dave Joyce, a member of the House Appropriations Committee, issued the following statement:

"Today we took a significant step in the right direction for our country. Border security is our top priority, and this legislation makes that clear by providing the resources necessary for our brave men and women to continue doing their job. That's something we can all agree on," said Joyce. "I was proud to follow through on the promises I've made to stop President Obama's unconstitutional executive action on immigration. As a former prosecutor, I believe we need to enforce our laws. This action today sends a firm message that Congress makes the laws and not the President."
