Location: Washington, DC

The U.S. House Committee on Homeland Security has announced the following hearing for next week:

WEDNESDAY, March 4 at 2:00 p.m.

Subcommittee on Cybersecurity, Infrastructure Protection, and Security Technologies

"Industry Perspectives on the President's Cybersecurity Information Sharing Proposal"

311 Cannon House Office Building

Invited Witnesses Include:

· Mr. Matthew Eggers, Senior Director, National Security and Emergency Preparedness, U.S Chamber of Commerce

· Mr. Gregory T. Garcia, Executive Director, Financial Services Sector Coordinating Council for Critical Infrastructure Protection and Homeland Security

· Ms. Mary Ellen Callahan, Former Chief Privacy Officer, U.S. Department of Homeland Security

Subcommittee Chairman John Ratcliffe, R-Texas, on the hearing: "Earlier this week, the full committee heard from DHS's cybersecurity officials about the president's cybersecurity information sharing proposal. This hearing will be an opportunity for stakeholders to share their perspectives on information sharing legislation. The only way we can address our cybersecurity vulnerabilities and fortify our defenses against future cyber attacks is by increasing the sharing of threat indicators between the public and private sectors. As such, we need buy-in from stakeholders before we move forward."
