McCaul Statement on Appointment of Clancy as Secret Service Director

Today, U.S. Rep. Michael McCaul, R-Texas, chairman of the Committee on Homeland Security, released the following statement on President Obama's appointment of Joseph Clancy as Director of the United States Secret Service:

Chairman McCaul: "As I have previously stated, the many failures of the Secret Service seem to be more pervasive than just its leadership. I do not doubt Acting Director Clancy's dedication to restoring the credibility of the Secret Service and I am hopeful that his permanent appointment will be the beginning of a new chapter for the agency. I urge him to not only implement the recommendations of DHS's independent panel, but to take a more holistic look at the Secret Service and other challenges it has recently faced. As always, my committee remains committed to working with the Secret Service to help ensure it can best fulfill all of its vital missions."
