McCaul Statement on President's National Security Strategy

Today, U.S. Rep. Michael McCaul, R-Texas, chairman of the Committee on Homeland Security, released the following statement on President Obama's updated national security strategy:

Chairman McCaul: "President Obama's failure to acknowledge and confront growing threats to our national security has reached staggering new heights. The administration's new national security strategy once again proves this White House is incapable of identifying the most immediate threat to our homeland: violent Islamist extremism. While President Obama is releasing hardened terrorists and doing everything he can to close the Guantanamo Bay facility, Islamist extremists are recruiting foot soldiers in America and abroad, and opening training camps in safe havens from the Middle East to South Asia and West Africa.

"It is past time for the administration to call the Islamist terror threat what it is, develop a cogent plan to defeat it, and marshal the resources necessary for success. They need to get serious before it is too late and develop a national security strategy that is in line with the realities of the dangerous world we live in."
