Cornyn: Why do Democrats now oppose Hyde language while scared, abused children await our help?

Press Release

Date: March 16, 2015
Location: Washington, DC

Democrats have been voting for language consistent with the Hyde Amendment for decades. Most recently...

On Authorization Bills with language similar to the Justice for Victims of Trafficking Act:

50 Democrats voted for the FY2015 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) (2014 Roll Call Vote 325)

51 Democrats voted for the FY2014 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) (2013 Roll Call Vote 284)

60 Democrats voted for Obamacare, which abortion activists claim is even more expansive than the Hyde Amendment. "The Nelson restrictions go beyond even the Hyde amendment, and may impose serious constraints on abortion coverage…"(2009 Roll Call Vote 396, "Nelson Provisions in Affordable Care Act Could Jeopardize, Stigmatize Women's Access to Abortion Services," NARAL Fact Sheet)

57 Democrats voted for the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) Reauthorization Act of 2009 (2009 Roll Call Vote 31)

On Appropriations Bills with this language:

32 Democrats voted for the so-called CRomnibus in December (2014 Roll Call Vote 354)

55 Democrats voted for the 2014 Consolidated Appropriations Act (2014 Roll Call Vote 13)

54 Democrats voted for the Continuing Appropriations Act of 2014 (2014 Roll Call Vote 219)

So why are Democrats now opposing this language while so many abused child trafficking victims need our help?
