Rep. Gosar Introduces Bipartisan Bill to Bring ISIS, Other Terrorists to Justice

Statement

Today, U.S. Congressman Paul A. Gosar, D.D.S. (AZ-04) released the following statement after introducing H.R. 751, the Bringing Terrorists to Justice Act, which amends the State Department's Rewards for Justice Program to require the Secretary of State to offer up to $5,000,000 in cash to individuals who provide information leading to the arrest or conviction of any person involved with the kidnapping and murder of American citizens:

"In his famed 1964 "A Time for Choosing' speech, Ronald Reagan boldly spoke of the duty we have to confront the very real evil that exists in the world declaring, "You and I have the courage to say to our enemies… there is a point beyond which they must not advance.'

"Fifty-one years later, the United States, as well as the rest of the world, faces a new barbaric enemy which, left unchecked, threatens our freedoms and innocent American lives. This unconscionable evil has no place in the world and must be snuffed out immediately. The time has come for the United States to take swift and effective action to crush ISIS and other terrorist threats before they grow more emboldened.

"Without a new war authorization, my bill is the best way to combat these terrorists and corrupt their organization from the inside. Incentivizing any person--whether living in a terrorist cell or being oppressed by one--to turn over critical information will greatly assist the U.S. in bringing these cowards to justice. With recent ISIS murders of 2 Japanese nationals and a Jordanian national, the time to act is now. The United States must clearly demonstrate resolve to bring an end to these atrocities. I want these monsters to know that when you harm innocent Americans, swift and absolute justice will follow close behind."
