Womack Statement on President's 2016 Budget Request

Statement

Date: Feb. 2, 2015
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Steve Womack (AR-3) released the following statement in response to President Obama's fiscal year 2016 budget request, which was today submitted to Congress:

"With a debt of over $18 trillion, President Obama's calls for $2.4 trillion in new spending and $2.1 trillion in tax increases are bold to say the least. Adding insult to injury, his plan never balances and continues down the same unsustainable path that the American people have resoundingly rejected. Our fragile economy cannot handle it, and as a member of the House Appropriations and Budget Committees, I look forward to doing the work the President won't: reviewing our current spending line-by-line to ensure taxpayer dollars are spent responsibly and purposefully."
