Governor Hassan Announces Job Training Grants for Five New Hampshire Companies in February

Continuing her efforts to help New Hampshire workers develop the skills and innovative thinking needed for good jobs in the 21st century economy, Governor Maggie Hassan announced today that five New Hampshire companies have been awarded job training grants to help them train 132 workers in new skills.

The job training grants total $27,514, and the companies contributed the same in matching funds to bring the total amount for training workers to $55,028.

"I am thrilled to announce the latest round of important grants to help New Hampshire workers develop skills for high-quality jobs at growing businesses," Governor Hassan said. "New Hampshire's Job Training Fund is an important resource that has helped thousands of workers develop skills critical to success in the innovation economy. In order to attract innovative businesses, help existing companies grow, and support the creation of good jobs for New Hampshire's middle class families, we must maintain our commitment to higher education and job training."

North Branch Construction Inc. of Concord received a grant of up to $3,312 for 24 employees to receive training in management and organizational techniques, public speaking and interview skills from Manchester Community College.

A grant of $14,775 was awarded to NH Ball Bearings Inc. Astro Division of Laconia for 80 employees to receive training from Tooling U and Stolter in manufacturing, leadership skills and blueprint analysis.

McHenry Architecture of Portsmouth received a Job Training Fund grant of $2,130 for eight employees to attend myCADD for Revit architecture software training.

Ambit Engineering Inc. of Portsmouth received a grant of up to $5,347 for training eight employees in a variety of skills, including hydraulic classification, US Army Corps wetland delineator methods, management and team leadership, Advanced AutoCAD, Microsoft Office and septic system evaluation.

Kheops International Inc. of Colebrook received a grant of up to $1,950 for nine employees to receive management training from Annie Bartlett.

The Job Training Fund has awarded $7,724,890.64 in grants since October 2007, with employers contributing $10,363,092.61 for a total of $18,087,983.25 in new training for 22,757 New Hampshire workers.
