Cramer Statement on Unsuccessful Senate Vote to Override President's Veto of Keystone XL Legislation

Today Congressman Kevin Cramer issued a statement after a vote to override President Obama's veto of legislation to approve the Keystone XL pipeline failed in the U.S. Senate:

"Today's unsuccessful veto override in the U.S. Senate is disappointing but is not unexpected, and it does not deter the strong resolve shared by members of both parties to get this pipeline built. It has been said many times in the 2,357 days spent waiting for a presidential permit, but the Keystone XL will support 42,000 jobs, remove 300 to 500 long-haul trucks daily from North Dakota roads, reduce state highway fatalities by 3 to 6 per year, and reduce injury crashes by 85 to 150 annually. For these reasons and many others, I will continue working to find a successful legislative avenue or obtain a presidential permit to approve this important piece of transportation infrastructure."
