Cramer to Host Veterans Advisory Board Meetings, Present WWII Medals

Congressman Kevin Cramer will host a meeting of his Veterans Advisory Board in Bismarck on Monday, March 9. As part of the meeting, Cramer will present World War II medals to James Castner of Glen Ullin, the son of Sgt. Louis L. Castner. Sgt. Castner served as a platoon leader from 1943 to 1945, but never received his service medals before he died in 2008. Cramer will also present a flag flown over the U.S. Capitol to Gabe Cavender, a student at Shiloh Christian School he nominated to the U.S. Air Force Academy.

Cramer was also pleased to announce the appointment of two new members to the Veterans Advisory Board: Uma Hoffman, Human Resource Manager for Steffes Corporation, and retired Army Master Sgt Eric Marts, host of the weekly radio show Heroes of the Heartland. Cramer formed the board during his first year in office as a means of receiving guidance from knowledgeable North Dakotans on important issues for active and retired service members.

The rest of the board includes Army Staff Sgt. Clinton Romesha, Medal of Honor recipient, Brenda Bergsrud, Veterans Coordinator and Benefits Specialist with the North Dakota Department of Veteran Affairs, Lt. Colonel Davina French, Government Affairs Officer for the North Dakota National Guard, John Hanson, VFW National Legislative Committee Member, Rusty Ouart, Purple Heart recipient, Warren Tobin, Department Adjutant of the Disabled American Veterans, and Lonnie Wangen, Commissioner of Veterans Affairs for the State of North Dakota.
