Chairman Heeds Duffy Request for Hearing in Tomah, WI

The House Veterans Affairs Committee confirmed today that they have heeded U.S. Representative Sean Duffy's request to hold a field hearing in Tomah, WI. The hearing, which will further investigate alleged over prescription of opiates at the Tomah VA facility, is slated to take place on March 30, 2015 at 1:00 PM.

Rep. Duffy, who has a large number of constituents who receive care from the Tomah facility, offered: "We have an IG investigator to root out and expose problems in the VA so we can better serve our Veterans. In this case, they didn't expose the facts that they had, and it was for the benefit of VA employees and to the detriment and death of Wisconsin veterans.

I led the effort to get a hearing in Tomah to look into these issues and I am grateful that Chairman Miller recognized the magnitude of the situation and heeded the request.

Rep. Duffy announced the hearing details during an interview with WSAW on Monday morning.

Duffy continued, "This is a very important step towards getting, not just answers, but real solutions for both our Veterans who receive care at Tomah and for Veterans across the country who depend on the VA system."
