Duffy Statement on President's State of the Union Address

Statement

Date: Jan. 20, 2015
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Taxes

U.S. Representative Sean Duffy (WI-07) offered comments following the President's State of the Union Address:

"America voted against the President's policies last November, but tonight he doubled down on the same liberal ideas he has offered the last six years.

"The President wants to offer the American people more taxes, more rules, and more regulations, but those policies have not translated into growing the middle class. When you have bigger government at every turn, it does not grow opportunity in Middle America.

"We need to streamline the tax code to ensure people and businesses are sending less of their hard earned dollars to Washington and instead are able to invest in our local community.

"It was a partisan speech and void of new ideas. I am an eternal optimist, but this address left me with little hope that the President is willing to work with the new American Congress."
