Today, United States Representative Bennie G. Thompson (D-MS) announces the Military Academy nominees for the Second Congressional District.

De'Ahnera Manyfield has been nominated by United States Congressman Bennie G. Thompson to the United States Air Force Academy. Ms. Manyfield is currently a Cadet Candidate at the United States Air Force Academy Preparatory School in USAF, Colorado and will graduate in May. She graduated in May 2014 from Jim Hill High School in Jackson, MS, where she was Battalion Commander of the Army JROTC, member of National Honor Society, Varsity Soccer Team Manager, and former Captain of Varsity Softball Team. Ms. Manyfield is the daughter of Rev. Timothy and Mrs. Angela Manyfield of Jackson.

Paul Pratt has been nominated by United States Congressman Bennie G. Thompson to the United States Naval Academy. He will graduate in May 2015 from Clinton High School where he is a member of the National Honor Society, and member of the Basketball, Tennis, Swimming, Track, Soccer and Cross Country teams. Mr. Pratt is active with the Clinton Chamber of Youth Leadership and other community organizations. He has received numerous academic, community and civic awards. Mr. Pratt is the son of Mr. Eric and Penny Pratt of Clinton.

These candidates were active in various school clubs/activities, sports, and some were active in JROTC, and in community and volunteer activities. Each candidate received a "Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition" in recognition of their nomination to the respective military academy and for outstanding academic achievements.
