Sessions Votes Against Amtrak Spending Bill

Press Release

Date: March 4, 2015
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Transportation

U.S. Congressman Pete Sessions (R-TX), Chairman of the House Rules Committee, today released the following statement regarding House passage of H.R. 749, Passenger Rail Reform and Investment Act of 2015:

"Today I voted against legislation that would reauthorize Amtrak because it did not go far enough in reforming our nation's passenger rail system. For far too long, Amtrak has counted on Americans' hard-earned tax dollars to bankroll its inefficient and unsustainable business practices. Throughout my career I have fought against waste in Amtrak and I could not support the bill today because it does not do enough to force Amtrak to play by the same rules as a private business."
