Letter to President Obama - Transportation Security Administration Administrator

Dear President Obama,

We respectfully request that you expeditiously nominate a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Administrator who is not only committed to protecting our nation's transportation systems from the constantly evolving threats of terrorism, but is also focused on continuing and expanding the risk-based security programs developed by former TSA Administrator John Pistole.

As a result of the decision to move away from a "one size fits all" approach to airport screening, in 2014, more than 40% of air travelers received some form of expedited airport screening, including the popular TSA PreCheck program. These trusted traveler programs make travel more enjoyable while allowing TSA to better focus their limited resources.

As Members of Congress representing districts with significant travel and tourism industries, we recognize how important these programs are in expediting and encouraging more air travel for both business and pleasure. We are confident that you share our perspective on the importance of the travel and tourism industry to our nation's economy and urge you to move forward with the nomination of a TSA Administrator who also appreciates this position.
