Congressman Aderholt Statement on BRAC Recommendations

WASHINGTON, DC, May 13, 2005 -- Congressman Robert Aderholt (R-Haleyville) today made the following statement concerning the Defense Department's recommendations on base realignments and closures:

"This is, overall, good news for Alabama. A net gain of 2,600 jobs illustrates the Defense Department's belief that Alabama's military operations are clearly among the nation's most efficient and effective.

"The recommendation to co-locate the Missile and Space Defense agencies to north Alabama is yet another vote of confidence in the abilities of the hardworking men and women to provide quality services in Alabama.

"While there are some unsettling losses in some areas of the state, I'm optimistic that we will find new opportunities to use these resources and continue our already successful efforts to expand jobs."
