Pallone Applauds President Obama's Keystone Veto

Statement

Issues: Oil and Gas

House Energy and Commerce Committee Ranking Member Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) released the following statement after President Obama vetoed the Keystone XL pipeline legislation:

"I applaud the President for rejecting the Keystone XL pipeline legislation. The American public understands that the environmental risks of the Keystone XL tar sands pipeline--for our drinking water, land, and climate--far outweigh any perceived benefit of its construction. Congress has wasted enough time on this Canadian pipedream. We need to be working on legislation to support a clean energy economy, improve domestic energy security, reduce carbon emissions, and combat the impacts of climate change. Keystone XL is a lose-lose proposition for energy security, a safe climate, and a healthy environment, and I commend the Administration for rejecting the dirty and dangerous pipeline."
