Today Congressman Kevin Cramer, a member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, released the following statement on the Obama Administration's proposed regulation of methane emissions:
"President Obama is proposing yet another regulation scheme on businesses trying to provide clean and affordable energy while creating good paying jobs in the process. Because methane is the principle component of natural gas - a profitable product - there is already a natural incentive to capture and sell it in the marketplace. In North Dakota, it's often considered a byproduct to oil production and flared, but beyond providing timely pipeline permits across federal and tribal lands, the state government is best positioned to handle the issue. In taking this antagonistic approach, the President is ignoring the economics of energy production in pursuit of a radical one size fits all environmental agenda."
