Rail Companies Issue New Status Reports on Grain Car Backlog

Press Release

Date: Jan. 15, 2015
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Transportation

Today Congressman Kevin Cramer announced BNSF Railway and Canadian Pacific Railway (CP) have publicly filed updated weekly grain backlog status updates as required by the U.S. Surface Transportation Board (STB). A summary of the reporting data specific to North Dakota for the last 10 weeks is below.

"The reduction in BNSF's backlog this week is encouraging. Their infrastructure improvements, along with additional power and crews, are starting to pay dividends on days when cold weather requires train lengths to be reduced. This enables BNSF to keep grain moving at a velocity needed to achieve better service," said Cramer.
