The Standing Rock Sioux Tribe and Cankdeska Cikana Community College on Spirit Lake Reservation are receiving more than $2.7 million in federal grants for Head Start and Early Head Start programs, Congressman Kevin Cramer announced today. The funds are provided by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
"This funding will help our reservations meet and adapt to the needs of lower-income students and their parents. I am pleased head start facilitators on Standing Rock and Spirit Lake will have this extra assistance to empower their mission of improving the education and health of young children in need," said Cramer.
The funds will be distributed as follows:
Standing Rock Sioux Tribe: $1,645,122
Cankdeska Cikana Community College: $1,090,298
