Rep. Rouzer Applauds Passage of Keystone Pipeline Bill

Statement

Issues: Oil and Gas

Congressman David Rouzer released to the following statement today after the House passed H.R. 3, the Keystone XL Pipeline Act by a vote of 266 to 153.

"I applaud the House for approving the construction of the Keystone Pipeline with sweeping bipartisan support. This is a common sense bill that will create much needed jobs for the American people and is a step towards establishing energy independence from the Middle East and Russia.

"The President has delayed action on this project for too long. In a time when too many are struggling to make ends meet, it's irresponsible for the President to turn his back on families looking for good-paying jobs and lower energy costs."

According to the U.S. State Department, the Keystone XL project will support 40,100 jobs and $2 billion in earnings, and will transport an estimated 830,000 barrels of oil per day -- the equivalent of nearly half of U.S. imports from the Middle East.
