Statement

Date: Jan. 19, 2015
Location: Washington, DC

Congresswoman Chellie Pingree issued the following statement on Martin Luther King Jr. Day:

"The events of the last year are a reminder that the issues Dr. King worked so tirelessly on are still issues today, and there is still more work to do. It is worth remembering how Dr. King preached peace, tolerance and respect, even at those times when heated political debate erupted into violence. He set an example for dignity and decency that we could all learn from."
