Zinke Legislation to Build Keystone Passes House with Bipartisan Support

Statement

Despite veto threats from President Obama, today the House passed the Rep.-Zinke co-sponsored bill, The Keystone XL Pipeline Act. The proposed route for the Keystone XL pipeline passes through Baker in Montana's Bakken region and would create more than 40,000 shovel-ready jobs.

The following statement is from Rep. Ryan Zinke.

"For too long the people of Montana have been waiting for Washington to quit playing politics with our jobs and American energy and finally build the Keystone XL pipeline. Throughout the campaign, I promised folks that I would make building the Keystone a top priority. Today I am happy to say that I did just that by taking the lead to co-sponsor this important legislation. Multiple studies, including those by the Obama Administration, have found the pipeline to be a safe and environmentally responsible form of transport, and an economic engine for the region. I commend Senator Steve Daines for leading the fight in the Senate to build bipartisan support amongst his colleagues, just as we were able to do in the House. I urge President Obama to rethink vetoing more than 40,000 good-paying American jobs."
