Stuzman Applauds Renewal of TRIA

Statement

Date: Dec. 10, 2014
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Congressman Marlin Stutzman issued this statement following the renewal of the Terrorism Risk Insurance Act (TRIA).

"If we are going to have a strong national security policy then we must make sure we not only protect our homeland but also our economic health from all kinds of threats. As we saw after 9/11, a large scale terror attack can have devastating effects on our economy. The Terrorism Risk Insurance Act (TRIA), originally passed in 2002 provides much needed stability to weather any future terror attack, and today I proudly supported its renewal.

"This re-authorization provides the necessary backstop and financial security that will allow major commercial and real estate projects that are vital to our economy to move forward. It provides an important boost to our business community while simultaneously protecting American taxpayers. I commend Chairman Hensarling and my fellow members of the Financial Services Committee for their hard work on this important legislation."
