Stutzman Supports Funding for Homeland Security

Statement

U.S. Congressman Marlin Stutzman issued this statement following his support for the Fiscal Year 2015 Department of Homeland Security Appropriations Act, sponsored by Hal Rogers. The bill passed 236-191.

"Today, I proudly supported legislation that would fund the Department of Homeland Security through fiscal year 2015. As events across the world have recently demonstrated, our national security is always under threat and we must do everything we can to keep our citizens and homeland safe. This bill helps secure our border, provides necessary funds for emergency disaster relief, and bolsters our cyber-security.

"This Act also prohibits the use of tax dollars from hardworking Americans to fund President Obama's executive action on immigration. The president's action announced last November is nothing more than a blatant disregard for our Constitution and an affront to the checks and balances system created by our Founding Fathers. If President Obama is truly serious about pursuing immigration reform, he should work with members of Congress, and not around them. Going forward I will continue to fight this president's zealous and abusive overreach of power."
