Governor Hassan Proclaims 2015 as "A Year of STEM" in New Hampshire

Continuing her efforts to help students develop the skills and innovative thinking needed for good jobs in the 21st century economy, Governor Maggie Hassan today proclaimed 2015 as "A Year of STEM" in New Hampshire.

"A strong foundation in the STEM fields of science, technology, engineering and math is essential for our young people to be competitive in today's global economy, and modernizing how we educate our students in these fields will prepare them for future success," Governor Hassan said. "During "A Year of STEM,' stakeholders across the state will work together to bring attention to these critical fields with the ultimate goal of bringing STEM activities into every school district."

As part of her efforts to strengthen STEM education in New Hampshire's K-12 schools, Governor Hassan issued an Executive Order in April 2014 creating the Governor's Task Force on STEM Education.

Earlier this month, the task force released its final report, calling on the Governor to designate 2015 as "A Year of STEM" in New Hampshire in order to focus attention on how the task force's recommendations can be turned into action.
