Grassley on Government's Reversal on HealthCare.gov Privacy Problem

Statement

Date: Jan. 23, 2015
Location: Washington, DC

Sen. Chuck Grassley of Iowa made the following comment on the government's reported reversal on a health care privacy problem, as reported by the Associated Press.

"The Administration is reversing itself only days after claiming consumers were protected and only after the Associated Press disclosed the problem and two U.S. senators weighed in. It's still unclear how consumers' information is being used. Even with this reversal, I still expect a complete response from the Administration about how this information was used and by whom. People using HealthCare.gov should have the confidence that their information is secure and not being used for sales pitches by outside firms. The Administration should be able to provide assurances with accuracy and credibility."
