Palmer Supports Bill to Protect Unborn from Painful Abortions

Statement

U.S. Representative Gary Palmer announced today that he will co-sponsor the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act (H.R. 36). This bill, which passed the House last Congress, would make abortion illegal after 20 weeks of gestation, the age scientific evidence demonstrates as being the age babies are capable of feeling pain.

"It has long been my position that innocent human life in all its forms deserves protection. The Declaration of Independence states that all people have certain unalienable rights, including the right to life. "Unalienable' means that the right is not given to us by government, but is a natural right granted by God. Without life, no other right matters.

The right to life is fundamental to everything I believe. America is one of only seven countries that allow for abortion after 20 weeks. The only country in the world founded on the idea of unalienable rights must protect the most vulnerable amongst us.

The Protect Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act will be a good step forward in protecting the unborn and I am proud to co-sponsor the bill. I urge my colleagues in both the House and Senate to pass the bill promptly."
