Cornyn Will Be Watchdog Against Unconstitutional Overreach As Constitution Subcommittee Chair

U.S. Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) will chair the Senate Judiciary Committee's Subcommittee on The Constitution during the 114th session of Congress. Senator Cornyn said that as the Subcommittee's Chairman, he will be a watchdog against unconstitutional overreach and will hold the Obama Administration accountable for its actions.

"Senators swear an oath to support and defend the U.S. Constitution, and I take that sacred responsibility seriously. The Constitution is the foundation of the freedoms and values we hold dear, yet for six years President Obama has treated it as an afterthought. It is the highest of laws and must be defended as such.

"I thank Sen. Grassley for this privilege, and I pledge to protect aggressively the U.S. Constitution and hold those who overstep it accountable for their actions."

The Subcommittee on The Constitution is one of six subcommittees under the jurisdiction of the Senate Judiciary Committee.
