Cornyn Hails Progress on Trans-Pacific Partnership

Statement

Date: Jan. 7, 2015
Issues: Trade

U.S. Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, issued the following statement regarding President Obama's meeting with Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto and the continuing negotiations regarding the Trans-Pacific Partnership:

"Already, six million U.S. jobs depend on trade with Mexico, so it is welcome news that progress is continuing toward completion of the Trans-Pacific Partnership. Done the right way, this trade agreement will open new markets for Texas-produced products, meaning more opportunities for farmers, manufacturers, and consumers. Continuing to find opportunities, like the Trans-Pacific Partnership, where the United States and Mexico can work together and both benefit, should be a major trade priority."
