"Climate change is one of the most important global issues we face, and Congress must act to protect our planet for future generations and ensure a sustainable energy supply.
"Unfortunately, the Keystone XL Pipeline Act failed to strike the right balance between energy development and environmental protection. The bill was a missed opportunity for members on both sides of the aisle to have a thoughtful debate about how best to meet the energy needs of our nation. For those reasons, I opposed the legislation.
