Dr. Ruiz Statement on Third Extension of Iran Nuclear Negotiations

"The announcement of yet another extension of the negotiations with Iran concerning their nuclear program is alarming and unacceptable. The Iranian government has not made the concessions necessary to eliminate their ability to build a nuclear weapon despite the United Sates alleviating economic sanctions.

"Any final agreement must directly lead to the dismantling of Iran's uranium enrichment facilities that could be used to create a nuclear weapon and must allow for international inspections to ensure the Iranian government is complying with any agreement.

"As violence and unrest across the Middle East continues to escalate and terrorist threats to the United States and our allies persist, we must remain united against those who would seek to do us harm. If an agreement is not met, harsher sanctions against Iran must be implemented with out delay."
