Cotton: "Arkansas can Rest Assured I Will Pursue Real Changes to Our Tax Code in the Years Ahead

Statement

Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Taxes

Congressman Tom Cotton (R-Dardanelle) today released the following statement on H.R. 5771, the Tax Increase Prevention Act of 2014:

"This is bill is another temporary fix for a problem that needs a long-term solution. It wrongly extends special-interest tax breaks and adds nearly $45 billion to our massive deficit. What's worse, the bill's single largest handout is to wind farms in states like California while Arkansas's productive coal industry has seen nothing but higher costs and increased regulation.

"A better solution is provide businesses, farmers, and families with the certainty they need through tax reform. Congress should've let the special-interest handouts expire and made permanent important pro-growth provisions like the research credit and accelerated depreciation for investments by farmers and small businesses--just as the House voted to do earlier this year. Arkansans can rest assured I will pursue real changes to our tax code in the years ahead."
