Congressman-Elect Zeldin Releases Statement on U.S.-Cuba Relations

Congressman-Elect Lee Zeldin (R, C-Shirley, NY) today released the following statement on U.S.-Cuba relations:

"While I am happy that fellow American Alan Gross has been safely reunited with his family, I can not support the President's proposal to make changes to the United States relations with Cuba.

The President has no grasp on the reality that regimes like the Castro regime do not respect weakness, only strength.

The Castro's sense of normal is not America's, nor is it in our nation's best interest to empower the Castro regime like the President did today.

President Obama continues to unravel decades of hard work and sacrifice that had positioned America as the greatest nation in the world that once always supported our strongest allies in the world while consistently weakening other nations that refused to stand with us for freedom and liberty for all people."
