Statement from Governor Hassan on Election of Presiding Officers of the New Hampshire Legislature

Statement

Following the election of Chuck Morse as President of the New Hampshire Senate and Shawn Jasper as Speaker of the New Hampshire House of Representatives, Governor Maggie Hassan issued the following statement:

"I would like to congratulate President Morse and Speaker Jasper on their respective elections today. The people of New Hampshire work together to solve problems every day, and that's what they expect of their elected leaders. The Speaker of the House was elected after a robust debate by a bipartisan coalition of Representatives who recognize that we must continue working together to keep our economy moving forward. In the last two years, we have proven how much can be accomplished through bipartisan cooperation and common-sense problem solving, and I look forward to working with President Morse, Speaker Jasper and our all-volunteer legislature to support job-creating businesses, expand middle class opportunity and keep our economy moving in the right direction."
