Following reports that Secretary Hagel will resign as Secretary of Defense, Congressman Mike Turner (R-OH), Chairman of the House Armed Services Subcommittee on Tactical Air and Land Forces, released the following statement:

"Through decades of dedicated leadership, Secretary Hagel has proven his commitment to our country and to our men and women in uniform.

His support for our soldiers is demonstrated through his work for legislation that would protect the parental rights of our service members in child custody disputes. His partnership on this issue has been critical in bringing awareness to the problem and to finding solutions for our troops and their families.

Secretary Hagel is a true advocate for our military men and women, and we are grateful for his service and his sacrifice."
