Lankford Applauds Reinstatement of Oklahoma's ESEA Waiver

Representative James Lankford (R-Okla.) issued the following statement after the U.S. Department of Education announced its decision to reinstate Oklahoma's waiver for the unworkable requirements under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), commonly referred to as No Child Left Behind (NCLB):

"I join Oklahoma's educators in praising the U.S. Department of Education for returning flexibility to our state's school systems. Oklahoma parents, educators and administrators know how to best serve our students and prepare them for future success. The reinstatement of our ESEA waiver should also serve as an opportunity for Oklahoma's leaders to set a high standard for our students as new goals in the classroom are developed. The eyes of the nation are on us as we prepare Oklahoma's students for the next generation."
