Horsford Statement On President Obama's Visit To Las Vegas

Statement

Date: Nov. 20, 2014
Location: Washington, DC

Today, Representative Steven Horsford (NV-4) released the following statement regarding President Obama's trip this Friday to Las Vegas, where he will speak at Del Sol High School to discuss an executive action to help fix our broken immigration system:

"Thousands of Nevadans and their families have waited far too long for relief from a broken immigration system that tears parents away from their children. Ultimately, comprehensive immigration reform passed by Congress is the most effective solution.

"Comprehensive immigration reform would create jobs, grow the economy, reduce our deficit, and keep families together. Unfortunately, House Republicans have refused at every stage to cooperate or allow a single vote on any immigration bill after more than 500 days. President Obama has no other choice but to proceed rightfully with executive action, much like Presidents Reagan and Bush. Following today's announcement, maybe Speaker Bohener will finally do his job and schedule a vote on immigration reform in the House so Congress can act on a permanent solution."
