Rep. David Schweikert (R-AZ), co-chair of the Congressional Tunisian Caucus, released a statement following the first round of the Tunisian presidential election:

"I congratulate the Tunisian people on a successful first round of their Presidential election," said Co-Chair Schweikert. "With millions going to the polls to vote, Tunisia has shown a commitment to a peaceful democratic transition that has been an inspiration throughout the region."

I am confident the Tunisian people will continue to build upon the success of the last several months as their democratic aspirations are realized."
