Today, Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (NY-8) released the following statement on his unanimous election to serve as Whip of the Congressional Black Caucus:

"Congratulations to Rep. G.K. Butterfield, the incoming Chairperson, and the newly-elected members of the executive board.

It is a high honor and distinct privilege to be elected as Whip of the Congressional Black Caucus, widely known as the conscience of the Congress. Over the next two years, I look forward to working closely with all of the members of the Congressional Black Caucus to advance economic fairness and social justice for the African-American community and the entire country."
