Diaz-Balart, House Vote for Fiscally Responsible Budget
WASHINGTONCongressman Mario Diaz-Balart (R-Fla.), a member of the House Budget Committee, joined his fellow House members in voting for a responsible federal budget which would cut the federal deficit in half within five years while still providing the fiscal blueprint for the nation's needs and priorities.
"This budget closely follows President Bush's fiscal leadership," Diaz-Balart said. "He provided us a fiscally responsible blueprint of our nation's needs - especially regarding the areas of defense and homeland security."
"When a leaned down budget still allows for more than $2.5 trillion in spending, we clearly have too much money in Washington," Diaz-Balart continued. "It would be irresponsible to raise taxes and spend even more taxpayer money, as the Democrats have consistently tried to do."
"I will continue to work with President Bush to make sure our nation's priorities are properly funded while remaining committed to halving the deficit in five years," Diaz-Balart concluded. "President Bush continues to show the will to make important and responsible fiscal decisions, and I am pleased that with this budget Congress is following his example.
