U.S. Rep. Michelle Lujan Grisham (NM-01), a member of House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, released the following statement after a hearing today on the government's response to the Ebola outbreak.
"We shouldn't be scrambling, during a serious public health crisis like this, to figure out the best way to coordinate and communicate a response," said Lujan Grisham. "We must be fully prepared, and ready to immediately implement a plan that is already in place and trusted by the public. Moving forward, Congress must make meaningful, long-term investments in public health and vaccine research programs in order to prepare for and prevent the spread of Ebola and other infectious diseases."
