Representative Steve Daines today called on President Obama to immediately renounce an Obama administration official's disparaging comments made toward Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, calling the comments insulting and a direct threat to the Israel-American partnership.
In response to the remarks from the anonymous White House official, Daines issued the following statement:
"Israel is our strongest and most critical ally, and it is deplorable that the Obama administration is jeopardizing the security of that relationship by treating Israel's leaders with anything less than the respect they deserve. President Obama's failure to immediately denounce the insulting remarks made by his advisors is yet another example of how this administration has failed to respect the importance of the Israel-American partnership, especially in the face of the growing threat of a nuclear Iran. The Obama administration's attitude toward Israel stands as a direct affront to our nations' critical partnership, which is of vital importance to the United States' own security and our interests in the Middle East. It is imperative that President Obama immediately repudiates these comments and holds the officials who made them accountable."
