Rep. Huffman Applauds Apple for Technology Grant for Hoopa Valley High School

Congressman Jared Huffman (D-San Rafael) today applauded Apple Inc. for their selection of Hoopa Valley High School, located on the Hoopa Indian Reservation in Hoopa, for a ConnectED grant that will include:

an iPad for every student;
a Mac and iPad for every teacher and administrator;
an Apple TV for every classroom;
Apple software to support creativity and productivity;
Appropriate third-party applications and components; and
A dedicated Apple team to provide ongoing professional development and support.

"America's future depends on a strong investment in education. We need to empower our schools and teachers with cutting-edge learning technologies to ensure our students have the skills they need to get good jobs and compete in a global market," Huffman said. "I'm thrilled that Apple has recognized Hoopa Valley High School's needs and will be donating their expertise and much-needed equipment to help these students succeed."

The ConnectED initiative is a partnership between the federal government and private entities like Apple to enhance K-12 education and ensure our students and teachers have the technology they need to succeed.

A total of 114 schools across 29 states received a grant, totaling $100 million over the next few years. Ninety-two percent of the students in the partner schools are of Hispanic, Black, Native American, Alaska Native, or Asian heritage.
